Improved Protection of Critical Admin-Functions

Last modified by Carina Enke on 12.01.2024

The 12.4 OPAL-Version provides a separate and additional password protection to access the system administration as well as the user and group administration of OPAL. This is another technical feature to make sure that the access to user data and critical system functions is protected in an even better way.

In order to continue to use all functions as usual after the update, users must have at least one of the following roles

  • User administrator
  • Group administrator
  • System administrator

who use an alternative login (e.g. via shibboleth authentication or LDAP), must have an OPAL password. They were asked to update their OPAL password or set a new one before the update.

If this has not yet been done and if you do not currently have access to the administration areas, please contact a user administrator at your institution.
