Create learning resource

With the release of OPAL 11.4, the function for creating learning resources has become available in the new user interface. If you are still using the old user interface, please refer to the section Create learning content with the old user interface.

To create a learning resource, proceed as follows:

Open the tab Teach & Learn. Select the entry Overview from the navigation area on the left. Here you will find the Create learning content function box.

You will also find a button to create courses and specific learning content after opening the menu items My courses and My resources.

Depending on the system configuration and your user rights, this function box may also be available in the First steps portlet on the homepage.

Select the learning resource type you wish to create, e. g. CP learning content.

In the dialogue, you can now enter a title and description for your learning resource. Optionally, you can also add an image.

To complete the creation process, choose between the following options:

  • Done: This option creates the learning resource with the configured settings and opens it.
  • Start edit mode: This option creates the learning resource with the configured settings and opens it in the editing mode. You can directly start to create the actual content.
  • Cancel: This option cancels the creation process. No learning resource will be created.

Create learning content with the old user interface

To create a learning resource in the old user interface, proceed as follows:

To create new learning content, proceed as follows:

Open the tab Teach & LearnClick on Create learning content on the home page of the Teach & Learn section.

Alternatively, you can also use the following options:

  • the Create button in the table head after opening the menu items My courses or My resources
  • the button Create learning content in the portlet First steps on the home page

In the dialogue, you can now enter a title and description for your learning content and optionally add an image.

Click on Done to save your entries and close the dialogue.

The created learning content opens. Depending on the content type, various functions and information may be available. The resource can now be edited or embedded in a course.

Import learning resource

To import a learning resource, proceed as follows:

Open the tab Teach & Learn and click on Import learning content.

Select the learning resource type you wish to import, e. g. CP learning content.

The system switches to the old user interface. In the dialogue, you have the option to select a file from your personal folder or to upload one from your hard disk.

Import from personal folder ...
  1. Click on Select folder.
  2. In the next step, select the folder from which you wish to import the learning resource and confirm your choice with Select folder.
  3. Select the desired learning resource. Confirm your choice with Select.
  4. As a next step, you can customise the description of the imported learning resource. Confirm your entries with Save and Finish.
  5. You will then be asked if you wish to start the editor.
Upload file from hard disk ...
  1. Click on Upload file.
  2. In the next window, you can select a learning resource from your computer via Select file.
  3. Click on Upload.
  4. As a next step, you can customise the description of the imported learning resource. Confirm your entries with Save and Finish.
  5. You will then be asked if you wish to start the editor.
