H5P Content
The H5P Content course element allows you to integrate interactive H5P learning content directly into OPAL. Thanks to the wide variety of H5P content types, the course element can be used in a range of teaching scenarios, from self-directed learning and simple quizzes to more complex simulations and interactive video content.

How to find or create H5P content
Before you can use the H5P Content course element, you must upload an H5P file (.h5p) to OPAL.
You can find such from the following platforms:
If you wish to create your own H5P content, you can use editors such as Lumi. Further options for embedding H5P resources in OPAL are described on the page How to use H5P Content in OPAL.

Progress and Assessment
Any progress that learners make within an H5P resource is saved by OPAL and becomes available again when the course module is accessed once more. Whether progress can be saved, and at what intervals, however, depends on the specific H5P content type and its ability to transmit save points.
Unlike other assessable elements, such as the Test course element, the H5P course element in its current version is not integrated into OPAL and cannot be assessed as such. Any assessments carried out within the H5P content, such as scoring, are not transferred to OPAL.
Nevertheless, it is possible to evaluate the completion of the course element by using an expert rule and to utilise this information for follow-up actions within the platform. How this can be implemented is described in the use case H5P Content as a prerequisite for a test element.
H5P view for learners
The embedded H5P file is displayed across the entire page area of the course (1). Navigation within the H5P content takes place directly within the content area. Interactive elements can be used.
What learners can do
For learners, there are no additional functions for the H5P Content course element type that go beyond the functions available in the selected content file. If the course progress indicator is enabled for the course, the learner can manually mark the course module as ‘Completed’.

The H5P Content course element is integrated and configured via the course editor. The following sections are available:

H5P Preview
The display of the embedded resource is the same for learners and course owners. If visibility or access restrictions have been applied, a preview can be viewed by using the learner view function.
