Configure automated enrolment

Open the course and switch to the course editor.

Then open the tab Course enrolment in the course settings.

Activate the checkbox Automated enrolment.

As a next step, define a learning group to which the course participants will automatically be added. In this learning group, the participants can later be managed.

  1. Open the available learning groups by clicking on the icon Icon_Gruppe auswählen.png.
  2. Select an available group here.
  3. Alternatively, you can also create a new group using the Create button.
  4. Complete the group selection with Finish.

Optionally, you may also configure an email notification. When this function is enabled, course participants who automatically enrol in the course will receive a system email. The suggested subject and body of this email can be customised in the respective two fields. To do so, you can also use placeholders, which are only filled with relevant course or user-specific data when the email is sent.

The following placeholders are available:

  • $groupname: Title of the configured learning group
  • $groupdescription: Description of the configured learning group
  • $courselist: Title of the course
  • $firstname, $lastname: First and last name of the enrolled course participant

Confirm the configuration settings with Save.

Publish your course to activate the automated enrolment.

If automated enrolment is enabled, the learner will be asked whether they agree with the enrolment when entering the course.

This does not apply to guests, system administrators, learning resource administrators, course owners or group members and tutors. To them, the enrolment information will not be displayed.
