Leitfaden SEB
Der Safe Exam Browser (SEB) ist ein Webbrowser, welcher eine sichere Arbeitsumgebung auf dem installierten Computer schafft. Mithilfe des Safe Exam Browsers kann der Zugang zu Systemfunktionen, anderen Anwendungen, Webseiten und Daten während der Prüfung reguliert werden.

Die folgenden Informationen ermöglichen einen einfachen Einstieg mit Blick auf den Einsatz des Safe Exam Browsers im Kontext der Lernplattform OPAL. ONYX-Testinhalte werden über den Kursbaustein Test eingebunden, welcher mit den Funktionen im Prüfungsmodus umfassende Funktionen zur Durchführung elektronischer Prüfungen bietet. Aktivieren Sie die Option Prüfungsbrowser verwenden.

SEB Download und Installation
Die aktuelle SEB Version können Sie unter folgendem Link herunterladen: https://www.safeexambrowser.org/download_en.html#Windows
Starten Sie die Datei SafeExamBrowserInstaller.exe und folgen Sie der Installationsanweisung des Programms.
Wir empfehlen den Einsatz der SEB Version 3.3.2
Hatten Sie vorher bereits eine ältere Version mit individueller Konfiguration im Einsatz, deinstallieren Sie diese bitte bevor Sie eine Neuinstallation durchzuführen. Damit stellen Sie sicher das keine alten Konfigurationen übernommen werden, die u.U. zu Fehlverhalten in der neuen Version führen. SEB Konfiguration
Der SEB bietet ein komfortables Konfigurationstool, welches mit der Installation bereits installiert wurde. Zum Start des Konfigurationstools, nutzen Sie die Datei SEBConfigTool.exe im SEB Installationsverzeichnis.
Das Konfigurationstool gruppiert die wichtigsten Funktionen des SEB in einzelnen Tabs.

Folgende Konfigurationseinstellungen werden empfohlen. Bitte beachten Sie, dass weitere Einstellungen, bspw. zum Netzwerk, für ihr Anwendungsszenario hilfreich sein können. Prüfen Sie gemeinsam mit dem Systemadministrator und dem Prüfungsverantwortlichen diese Einstellungen und passen Sie die Default-Einstellung ggf. an die gegebene Systeminfrastruktur und das Einsatzszenario an.
Step 1: Basis-Einstellungen im Tab 'General'
1 | Setzen Sie die Start-URL des gewünschten LMS-Systems als OPAL Startseite.

2 | Konfiguration zum Beenden des SEB Legen Sie fest, auf welche Weise der SEB beendet werden kann: Checkbox "Allow user to quit SEB" aktivieren:

3 | Quit/unlock password: Konfigurieren Sie hier ein individuelles Passwort zum Beenden des SEB. Damit wird automatisch auch die Exit-Sequence (exit keys) deaktiviert. |
Step 2: Anzeige-Einstellungen im Tab 'User Interface'
1 | Browser view mode: Wählen Sie eine Vollbild-Anzeige des Browser-Fensters. Aktivieren Sie die Option Use full screen mode, wenn die Prüfung alleinig mit ONYX absolviert werden soll. |

2 | Taskbar/Dock/Side Menu: Reduzieren Sie die angezeigten SEB-Funktionen für den Prüfungsteilnehmer. |
Step 3: Einstellungen im Tab 'Browser'
Führen Sie Detaileinstellungen für den integrierten SEB-Webbrowser durch:
1 | Browser security: Wenn Sie zusätzliche Dokumente in Ihrer Prüfung bereitstellen, dann aktivieren Sie die Option Allow toolbar of internal PDF reader (Win)... . Damit wird verhindert das der Nutzer sich diese Dokumente herunterladen kann und dabei unerwartet im Vollbildmodus des Dokuments hängen bleibt. |

Step 4: Einstellungen im Tab 'Download/Upload'
1 | Allow downloading and uploading files Aktivieren Sie diese Option nur, wenn Sie im Test Uploadaufgaben verwenden. Gleichzeitig können Nutzer bei aktivierter Option dann jedoch auch zusätzlich bereitgestellte Dokumente im Test herunterladen. |

Step 5: Speicherung der Konfigurationsdatei im Tab 'Config File'
Um die Konfiguration für den SEB Einsatz zu übernehmen, müssen Sie die Konfigurationsdatei speichern.
1 | Use SEB settings for...: Aktivien Sie "configuring a client", um alle Konfigurationseinstellungen in einer Datei zu speichern, mit der eine Übertragung auf andere PCs schnell erledigt ist.

2 | Use either a cryptographic identity or a password or both: Sichern Sie Ihre Konfigurationsdatei vor Änderungen mit einem Passwort. Dieses Passwort muss bei Übertragung der Konfiguration auf einen anderen PC einmalig bei Erstkonfiguration angegeben werden. Nach Einrichtung dieser Datei als Standard-Konfiguration später ohne weitere Änderung nicht mehr.

3 | Config File Editing: Speichern Sie die Konfigurationsdatei (*.seb) mit Klick auf Save Settings bzw. Save Settings As.... Der Dateipfad wird Ihnen nach dem Speichern zusätzlich in der Titelleiste des Konfigurationstools angezeigt.

Zur automatischen Konfiguration eines installierten Safe Exam Browsers starten Sie einmalig die gespeicherte Konfigurationsdatei (*.seb) per Doppelklick auf dem Zielsystem. Sie benötigen zum erstmaligen Laden der Konfigurationsdaten das konfigurierte Passwort (Schutz der Konfigurationsdatei). Der installierte SEB-Browser wird entsprechend konfiguriert und nutzt ab dem nächsten Neustart die hinterlegten Einstellungen.
SEB Start
Starten Sie den Safe Exam Browser durch Öffnen der installierten Anwendung oder durch Start der Datei SafeExamBrowser.exe. Der Safe Exam Browser lädt automatisch die zuletzt geladene Konfiguration.

The Safe Exam Browser (SEB) is a web browser that creates a safe working environment on the installed computer. It can be used to control access to system functions, other applications, websites and data during the exam.

The following information provides an easy introduction to the use of the Safe Exam Browser in the context of the learning platform OPAL. ONYX test content can be integrated using the course element Test, which provides comprehensive functions in the exam mode to conduct electronic exams. Enable the option Exam browser.

SEB download and installation
The current SEB version can be downloaded using the following link: https://www.safeexambrowser.org/download_en.html#Windows
Start the file SafeExamBrowserInstaller.exe and follow the program's installation instructions.
We recommend the use of SEB version 3.3.2
SEB configuration
SEB integrates a comfortable configuration tool, which will be automatically installed upon installation. To start the configuration tool, use the file SEBConfigTool.exe in the SEB installation directory.
The configuration tool organises the most important SEB functions into individual tabs.

The following configuration settings are recommended. Please note that additional settings, e.g. network settings, may be helpful for your application scenario. Check these settings together with the system administrator and the examiner and adapt the default setting to the system infrastructure and usage scenario if necessary.
Step 1: Basic settings in the tab "General"

2 | Configuration to quit the SEB Specify how to quit the SEB: Enable the checkbox "Allow user to quit SEB": If the checkbox is disabled, quitting the SEB will be prohibited. Please note that in this case, a system restart is absolutely necessary to exit and quit the SEB! For most scenarios, it makes more sense to enable the checkbox "Allow user to quit SEB" and to configure an individual password under "Quit/unlock password” that will need to be entered to quit the SEB. | |
3 | Enable the "Ignore exit keys" checkbox: Please also enable this checkbox. This will disable quitting via the function keys. | |
4 | Quit/unlock password: Configure here an individual password to quit the SEB. This will also automatically disable the exit keys. |
Step 2: Browser view mode settings in the tab “User Interface”
1 | Browser view mode: Pick a full screen mode. Enable the option Use full screen mode if the exam is to be completed only with ONYX. |

2 | SEB Taskbar/dock: Reduce the number of SEB functions displayed to the examinee. |
Step 4: Saving the configuration file in the tab “Config File”
To apply the configuration for using the SEB, you must save the configuration file.
1 | Use SEB settings for... Enable the option configuring a client to save all configuration settings to a file that allows for a quick transmission to other PCs. |

2 | Use either a cryptographic identity or a password or both: Protect your configuration file against changes with a password. This password must be specified once during the initial configuration when transferring the configuration to another PC. After setting up this file as the default configuration, this will no longer be possible without further modifications. | |
3 | Config File Editing: Save the configuration file (*.seb) by clicking on Save Settings or Save Settings As.... The file path will also be displayed in the title bar of the configuration tool after saving the file.

To automatically configure an installed Safe Exam Browser, start the saved configuration file (*.seb) once on the target system by double-clicking it. To load the configuration data for the first time, you will need the configured password (configuration file protection). The installed SEB browser will be configured accordingly and use the stored settings from the next restart.
Start SEB
| Start the Safe Exam Browser by opening the installed application or by starting the file SafeExamBrowser.exe. The Safe Exam Browser will automatically load the last loaded configuration.
